Perth Arena
New Internal Staircase
Perth Arena
Perth
Construction of two new staircases inside Perth Arena, the aim being to seamlessly integrate the new staircases with the existing building fabric and cause minimal disruption to the operation. We conducted a lot of research and identified a new product being used in Europe called “Jesmonite”, which is as strong as concrete but much lighter to enable manual lifting and installation without the need of a crane or use of heavy lifting equipment. The material was tinted to match the surrounding podium blue colour and fabricated off-site in moulds, which meant construction could be coordinated around the busy and changing schedule of international and local events happening every week.
As a company, we are often called on to complete unique and diverse jobs or projects where attention to detail is paramount.

Steelwork Remediation - Revitalise ageing and damaged stainless steel mesh infill panels
Councillors Carport, Civic Administration Centre
City of Canning Civic & Administration Building
The primary focus of this asset renewal project was to revitalise a number of ageing and damaged stainless steel mesh infill panels, which were critical to securing the Councillors Carport, located within the City of Canning Civic & Administration building.
The large stainless steel mesh panels were removed from the site, sandblasted, re-galvanised and powder coated, then reinstalled in their original locations. Works also included the cleaning and re-painting of the surrounding steelworks, to ensure a harmonious finish. M/Construction working closely with our subcontractors to deliver these works on time and on budget, with the completed works extending the useful life of the key steel elements at this property.
M/Construction undertakes a diverse range of asset renewal and remediation projects, which aim to extend the useful life of building assets in a cost effective manner. Our experience with such works enables us to provide advice and support to our clients, ensuring building infrastructure remains in the best possible condition.

Replacement of Timber Posts, Littoria Boardwalk
Littoria Boardwalk in the Ferndale Flats Park
This project involved the renewal and replacement of aged and rotted timber posts supporting the popular Littoria Boardwalk in the Ferndale Flats Park.
A team of carpenters worked through the extensive site, systematically replacing damaged posts and painting the tops of each post with a protective coating, to ensure ongoing protection from the elements. This approach will ensure the longevity of the boardwalk, which is a heavily used community asset.
The M/Construction team scheduled these works around peak use periods, to minimise disruption to area users and damage to the works in progress. Environmental protection was also a key consideration of the project, with most of the work completed under strict environmental controls, to ensure the health of the surrounding flora and fauna.
M/Construction has significant experience working in challenging and sensitive conditions and we are confident in our ability to deliver projects of any size in such conditions.

M/Construction Maintenance & Minor Works completes Schools Toilet refurbishments for Programmed Facility Management ahead of schedule.
M/Construction were able to mobilise within days of award making good use of the Term 1 school holiday period completing the noisy and disruption demolition before school returned. The work area was well defined with temporary fencing protecting staff and students during school hours. The clever programming and efficient use of school holiday period reduced the onsite project time to 3 weeks, less than 2 weeks into Term 2.
Our successful bid for this project provided the school with a complete refurbishment of both boys & girls toilets to high standards and prevented the need to scale back scoped works due to budget constraints. Additional works to install electric hand dryers to boys and girls toilets were complete within reduced time frame and budget.
Curtin Glass Facade
Glass facade design & installation at Curtin University
Curtin Glass Facade
Curtin University
Building 402 located at Curtin University had a glass facade stiffener self implode and fall from its current position in the foyer. M/Construction were engaged to make the area safe, remove the shattered glass from beneath and relocate furniture to a secure storage facility. M/Construction were consulted by Curtin University to propose an Engineered Design suitable for the remediation without compromising the remaining structure.
M/Construction approached structural engineers BG&E and facade design consultants Atelier/JV to provide an option that would deliver a solution in the earliest possible timeframe. The recommended solution was to remove the remaining glass stiffening supports mitigating any future hazard. The engineered detail accounted for the fabrication and installation of new aluminium mullions, which were to be installed on the internal side of the office located on Level 3 of the building.
The success of this project is highlighted by M/Construction’s ability to react, prepare, procure and deliver a complex project solution. These works were delivered over the Christmas period, a time when many contractors and suppliers have taken a break in trade.
